Approximately 80% of the estimated 65 million people with epilepsy live in lower-resource regions, with 39 million lacking access to appropriate care. In addition to a higher mortality rate, severe stigma and discrimination persist, leaving many people with epilepsy unable to go to school, get a job, or participate in the community.
